Make Our Issue YOur Issue | Ad Age Cover Contest
In 2018, I submitted the "Make Our Issue Your Issue" into Ad Age's Young Creatives Cover Contest. I wasn't selected but I was really excited about the concept behind my cover.
The Brief: Can Creativity Change The World?
Over the last year or so, we’ve seen voices once unheard or silent coming to the fore to have tremendous impact on the world around them. We’ve seen it with #MeToo, the Women’s March and now students rising up to protest against gun violence. Inspired by this momentum, we’d like to see how you can put your creativity to good work too, and we challenge you to create an image that shows how creativity can change the world.
Create a powerful image that inspires others to take action for an important cause.
Rationale:
To create a powerful image that inspires people to “take action”, I challenged myself to rethink what the Ad Age cover could actually do. Can it be more than just a pretty image? What if it served as a vehicle for change?
Introducing the Ad Age “Make Our Issue Your Issue”. For the month of June, Ad Age is leaving their cover blank and encouraging people to write letters to their representatives on it.
And better yet, the cover makes it easy. The back is equipped with a scannable code that links to the U.S. House of Representatives website. Once scanned, people can simply input their area code and search for their local representatives (Go ahead and try it, it works). And with the cover’s perforated edge and prepaid postage, all people have to do is rip it off and mail it.
