SHOOT FOR GREEN | MTN DEW

In 2018, I challenged myself to create a buzz-worthy idea that could do some good. Here's where I landed.

The Problem:

According to a global study published in Science Advances, only 9 percent of the 8.3 billion metric tons of plastic produced has been recycled. It’s a problem that’s literally growing by the pound.

The Solution:

Shoot For Green: On America Recycles Day (November 15th), MTN Dew will launch a guerilla-recycling effort that inspires people to shoot their plastic bottles into designated MTN Dew basketball hoop bins. Pepsico will recycle the bottles into basketball jerseys for families in need.

People can visit ShootForGreen.com to follow the program’s progress during America Recycles Day. Plus, leading up to the event, people can order a free mini MTN Dew hoop bin to track their recycling numbers at home and continue the effort afterward. The microsite will even allow people to find their nearest local hoop so they can go recycle.

To drive engagement, MTN Dew will ask people to post their shot using #ShootForGreen. Every person who posts will receive free MTN Dew and enter for a chance to win a recycled jersey.
